Vuurtoren Wester-Schouwen

Diep in de bossen van Westerschouwen staat deze markante rood-wit gestreepte vuurtoren als stille wachter over de Zeeuwse kust. De toren, gebouwd in 1840, is met zijn 50 meter een van de hoogste vuurtorens van Nederland. Hij hielp vroeger schepen veilig langs de verraderlijke ondieptes van de Noordzee en de Oosterschelde te navigeren.
Vanaf de paden rondom de toren heeft u schitterende doorkijkjes door de bomen, waarbij het rood-witte silhouet prachtig afsteekt tegen de lucht. Het is een iconisch herkenningspunt op Schouwen-Duiveland en een fotogenieke plek midden in het duingebied. Een korte stop hier is absoluut de moeite waard.
