Tour of Merwelanden

De Merwelanden is a beautiful nature reserve on the outskirts of Dordrecht, along the banks of the Merwede River. The area includes extensive floodplains, reed beds, forests and water features, providing a diverse landscape. The Merwelanden also provides a good habitat for different types of birds, including waterfowl, raptors and songbirds, making it an ideal place for bird watchers. The Merwelanden is also home to the Beaver Forest. This is a specially created forest area where you, the visitor, will have the chance to see these fascinating animals in their natural habitat. You will also pass the Biesbosch Visitor Center, with lots of information and education about the biesbosch!
