Walking route Island of Dordrecht

This walking route takes you through the Nieuwe Dordtse Biesbosch, in the southern part of the Eiland van Dordrecht. The area has been designed as a new nature and recreation area, with former agricultural polders transformed into open water features, reed beds and young forests. You walk along dikes and quiet paths with wide views, interspersed with stretches where nature is more densely vegetated. Along the way you will see the transition from the open polder landscape to a wetter, more natural environment reminiscent of the atmosphere of the Biesbosch. The route is ideal for those who love peace, space and bird watching. Here you experience the unique combination of newly created nature and traditional Dutch polders, with the city of Dordrecht in the background but still a world of silence around you.
